SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2024, Notification Released for Application, Check Eligibility

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the much-awaited notification for the Stenographer Grade C and D posts. This recruitment drive aims to fill a substantial number of vacancies across various government departments and ministries. SSC Stenographer recruitment exam is a national-level competitive examination conducted to fill up the posts of Stenographers in various government departments and ministries. The exam is held in two tiers: Computer-Based Examination (CBE) and Skill Test. Candidates who qualify in the CBE will be shortlisted for the Skill Test.

Eligibility Criteria For SSC Stenographer Post

Educational Qualification
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 (higher secondary) or an equivalent exam from a recognized board or university.
  • Stenography Speed
    • For Grade C: 100 words per minute (w.p.m) in English or Hindi.
    • For Grade D: 80 w.p.m in English or Hindi.
  • Transcription Time Grade C
    • 40 minutes for English, 55 minutes for Hindi.
  • Transcription Time Grade D
    • 50 minutes for English, 65 minutes for Hindi.
Age Limits
  • Grade C: Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years old.
  • Grade D: Candidates must be between 18 and 27 years old.

SSC Stenographer Vacancy Selection Process

Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • The CBT will have 200 multiple choice questions from General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension.
  • The test will be conducted in bilingual mode (English and Hindi) except for the English Language section.
  • Each question will carry 1 mark and there will be negative marking of 1/4 marks for each incorrect answer.
  • The total duration of the CBT will be 2 hours.
Skill Test
  • Candidates who qualify the CBT will appear for the Skill Test in Stenography.
  • In the Skill Test, candidates will be given a dictation for 10 minutes at a speed of 100 words per minute (wpm) for Grade C and 80 wpm for Grade D, in either English or Hindi.
  • The candidates will have to transcribe the dictated matter on a computer.
  • The transcription time is 40 minutes for English and 55 minutes for Hindi for Grade C, and 50 minutes for English and 65 minutes for Hindi for Grade D.
  • The Skill Test is of qualifying nature and the Commission will fix the qualifying standards for different categories of candidates.
Document Verification
  • The final stage is Document Verification where candidates will have to submit original documents as proof of eligibility.
  • Required documents include photographs, valid photo ID, educational certificates, category certificates (if applicable), age relaxation proof (if applicable), employment documents (if employed), and any other documents specified in the Admission Certificate.

How To Apply Online For SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2024

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to the SSC official website at ssc.nic.in.
  2. New Registration: Click on the “New Registration” link on the homepage to create your account.
  3. Fill Out the Registration Form: Enter required details such as your name, date of birth, and contact information. After filling in the details, submit the form to receive a registration ID and password.
  4. Log In: Use the registration ID and password to log in to your account.
  5. Complete the Application Form: Fill out the application form with personal details, educational qualifications, and exam preferences.
  6. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your passport-sized photograph and signature as per the specified dimensions:
    • Photograph: 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, size between 20 KB to 50 KB, in JPEG format.
    • Signature: 4.0 cm x 3.0 cm, size between 10 KB to 20 KB, in JPEG format.
  7. Pay the Application Fee: Pay the application fee of Rs. 100 if you belong to the General or OBC category. SC, ST, women, and ESM candidates are exempt from the fee. Payment can be made online.
  8. Review and Submit: Carefully review all the information provided in the application form. Once confirmed, submit the form.
  9. Print the Confirmation: After submission, take a printout of the application form for future reference.
